Thank you to our many volunteers who helped make our Kindergarten Valentine's Day party so much fun! If you were at the party, and have pictures you'd like to share on our site, please email them to Mrs. Levy at LevyJ@district279.org.
We had a very surprising 4 days home from school last week due to snow and extreme cold. Luckily, school was back in session on Friday, and we were able to go on our field trip to the Minnesota Children's Museum as scheduled! Everyone had a great time, and we were lucky to have LOTS of parent volunteers!
Due to school closings, some of our conference dates have had to be rescheduled. If your conference was scheduled for Tuesday, January 29, it has been rescheduled for the same time on Tuesday, February 5th. If your conference was scheduled for Thursday, January 31, it is rescheduled for the same time on Tuesday, February 12. Conferences set on Wednesday, February 6th will remain as scheduled. If the new date and time do not work for you, please go online to www.ptcfast.com/schools/Woodland_Elementary_School to find a new date and time that will work for you. You can also call Mrs. Kedrowski or Mrs. Titus in the office at 763-315-6400, and they can help you with selecting a new time. Thank you, and we look forward to talking with you about how your child is growing in kindergarten!
This Friday, October 26, is school picture day! Our photos will be taken before lunch. An order form and envelope will come home this evening (Wednesday), but you can order online at www.mylifetouch.com.
Our picture ID is MI218336T0 (after the M is letter I, after the T is the number 0). You can purchase photo packages for multiple family members while on the site, and if you order online, you will not need to send your child to school with any extra papers on Friday! There are also many background and package options online-you can look around for some good deals!
Tomorrow is our evening Kindergarten social event, "Chillin' and Grillin' with Kindergarten", from 5:30-7:00. This event is RAIN OR SHINE! If it is raining, we will eat and visit in our classrooms. Even if you didn't RSVP, please feel free to join us! We will serve food to families who have paid in advance first, but if there are extras, we can cook something up for you! (Or, you can eat before or after, and just come visit with our classmates and their parents!)
All the teachers and school staff are busy getting rooms ready for the school year today, and we are all so excited to meet our new students tonight! Open House is from 5:30-7:00 PM, Wednesday August 29th. If your child was enrolled by the beginning of last week, you should have received a letter in the mail from school with all kinds of important information including your child's classroom teacher assignment. (See the sample letter below: PLEASE NOTE- THE LETTER ASKS PARENTS TO COMPLETE AN ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE...WE WILL NOT NEED THIS FOR OUR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS. WE HAVE A FEW OTHER FORMS THAT WILL GIVE US THE SAME INFORMATION (AND MORE), SO NO NEED TO DO THE EXTRA WORK!
We are so excited to meet with our incoming kindergartners this week! Assessments will take place Tuesday through Thursday. We will use the information we gather about your children to help us make balanced class lists for the new school year.
We will then see the children once more before school starts at the Woodland Open House on August 29, from 5:30-7:00pm.
Two important messages:
Today is our field trip!
There will be no reading homework tonight! Make sure to ask your kids about the trip. 😊
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the party as well as our behind-the scenes volunteers who helped with shopping and set-up!
The kids had a BLAST!
Our field trip to the MN Children's Museum is quickly approaching! If you haven't been there lately, there have been some BIG changes! Check out the article the Start Tribune posted after the construction was complete!
