This Friday, October 26, is school picture day! Our photos will be taken before lunch. An order form and envelope will come home this evening (Wednesday), but you can order online at www.mylifetouch.com.
Our picture ID is MI218336T0 (after the M is letter I, after the T is the number 0). You can purchase photo packages for multiple family members while on the site, and if you order online, you will not need to send your child to school with any extra papers on Friday! There are also many background and package options online-you can look around for some good deals!
Tomorrow is our evening Kindergarten social event, "Chillin' and Grillin' with Kindergarten", from 5:30-7:00. This event is RAIN OR SHINE! If it is raining, we will eat and visit in our classrooms. Even if you didn't RSVP, please feel free to join us! We will serve food to families who have paid in advance first, but if there are extras, we can cook something up for you! (Or, you can eat before or after, and just come visit with our classmates and their parents!)
All the teachers and school staff are busy getting rooms ready for the school year today, and we are all so excited to meet our new students tonight! Open House is from 5:30-7:00 PM, Wednesday August 29th. If your child was enrolled by the beginning of last week, you should have received a letter in the mail from school with all kinds of important information including your child's classroom teacher assignment. (See the sample letter below: PLEASE NOTE- THE LETTER ASKS PARENTS TO COMPLETE AN ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE...WE WILL NOT NEED THIS FOR OUR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS. WE HAVE A FEW OTHER FORMS THAT WILL GIVE US THE SAME INFORMATION (AND MORE), SO NO NEED TO DO THE EXTRA WORK!
We are so excited to meet with our incoming kindergartners this week! Assessments will take place Tuesday through Thursday. We will use the information we gather about your children to help us make balanced class lists for the new school year.
We will then see the children once more before school starts at the Woodland Open House on August 29, from 5:30-7:00pm.
Two important messages:
Today is our field trip!
There will be no reading homework tonight! Make sure to ask your kids about the trip. 😊
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the party as well as our behind-the scenes volunteers who helped with shopping and set-up!
The kids had a BLAST!
Our field trip to the MN Children's Museum is quickly approaching! If you haven't been there lately, there have been some BIG changes! Check out the article the Start Tribune posted after the construction was complete!
(A note from Mrs. Beckler)
It is time to schedule your student’s Parent/Teacher Conference. We will once again be using online conference scheduling. Conferences will be held in your child’s classroom.
January 30 - February 1 - February 7
8:00-9:00 AM & 4:30-7:30 PM
At this time, you will schedule a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher only. If you require time with another teacher, please contact them directly. To choose a time slot, enter this link into your internet browser:
At the link, you will be asked to register your e-mail address. If you are already registered you do not need to do so again, just type in your password. After completing that task, you will immediately receive an e-mail with a link to schedule your conference. Once you select your conference time you will be sent an email confirmation and also an e-mail reminder 2 days prior to the conference.
If you need to change a conference time, simply log back in and you will be given directions on how to choose a new time from the available slots.
If you do not have internet access, please call Woodland Elementary at 763-315-6400.
If you need an interpreter, contact our office directly or through the Direct Interpreter Access Line.
Dear Kindergarten Families,
It’s time to add to our Kindergarten homework! This sheet is to inform you about our homework and weekly expectations. We are working with your children to help them become responsible for their own work, but as kindergarteners, they will still need your help (and signatures!) from time to time as they grow and become more self-sufficient.
Mondays: Word Bird Word Homework (the strip of words in the envelope) the ENVELOPE is DUE FRIDAY-1 date & initial per week required
Tuesdays: Math Homework (on blue paper) DUE WEDNESDAY
Wednesdays: Reading Comprehension Homework (read the story with your child and answer questions) DUE THURSDAY—signature required
Thursdays: Math Homework (on blue paper) DUE FRIDAY
Other Important Information: Reading Calendars are due at the end of each month-the calendar must be signed, and the child must read for at least 300 minutes to be eligible for the reward.
Thank you all so much for your help and support!
