Hi Kindergarten Parents!
Thank you all for meeting with us at conferences to talk about your wonderful children and set goals for the school year! We practice MANY skills every day in our classrooms-academic skills, social skills and plain old life skills! As we work with your children to help them become more independent, one of our expectations is that they will be able to get in and out of their 'outside gear' quickly and with very little adult assistance. To help us meet this goal, we ask that you make some time at home to have your child practice getting in and out of jackets, boots, mittens, snowpants etc. You can make it a game-time them to see how long it takes and graph their progress! Some school-savvy tips: *LABEL EVERYTHING! Permanent marker and fabric paint work best. You would not believe how many black, size small snowpants get strewn all over the floor and eventually make their way to the lost and found (or the wrong home) each year! *TUCK MITTENS, HATS and SCARVES in the SLEEVES OF YOUR COAT *KEEP AN EXTRA PAIR OF SOCKS IN YOUR CHILD'S BACKPACK *SEND A PLASTIC OR REUSABLE BAG (LABELLED) FOR WET SNOWGEAR TO GO TO AND FROM SCHOOL Thank you so much! With your help, we may be able to prevent tears, missed recess time and lots of extra Target and WalMart trips for additional snowgear!
