CONFERENCE SIGN-UP
(A note from Mrs. Beckler) It is time to schedule your student’s Parent/Teacher Conference. We will once again be using online conference scheduling. Conferences will be held in your child’s classroom. January 30 - February 1 - February 7 8:00-9:00 AM & 4:30-7:30 PM At this time, you will schedule a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher only. If you require time with another teacher, please contact them directly. To choose a time slot, enter this link into your internet browser: http://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Woodland_Elementary_School At the link, you will be asked to register your e-mail address. If you are already registered you do not need to do so again, just type in your password. After completing that task, you will immediately receive an e-mail with a link to schedule your conference. Once you select your conference time you will be sent an email confirmation and also an e-mail reminder 2 days prior to the conference. If you need to change a conference time, simply log back in and you will be given directions on how to choose a new time from the available slots. If you do not have internet access, please call Woodland Elementary at 763-315-6400. If you need an interpreter, contact our office directly or through the Direct Interpreter Access Line.
Toni Beckler Principal Dear Kindergarten Families, It’s time to add to our Kindergarten homework! This sheet is to inform you about our homework and weekly expectations. Mondays: Word Bird Word Homework (the strip of words in the envelope) the ENVELOPE is DUE FRIDAY-1 date & initial per week required Tuesdays: Math Homework (on blue paper) DUE WEDNESDAY Wednesdays: Reading Comprehension Homework (read the story with your child and answer questions) DUE THURSDAY—signature required Thursdays: Math Homework (on blue paper) DUE FRIDAY Other Important Information: Reading Calendars are due at the end of each month-the calendar must be signed, and the child must read for at least 300 minutes to be eligible for the reward. Thank you all so much for your help and support! The Kindergarten Teachers Picture day is TOMORROW! (Friday, October 28, 2017). Order forms went home with Wednesday mail, but you can also order online at https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/
The Picture Day/Portrait ID is: MI217336Y0 Online Picture Day orders will ONLY be accepted up to 48 hours after picture day (Sunday). We are scheduled for pictures BEFORE lunch, recess and specialists, and we will do everything we can to keep your kids looking picture perfect! Chillin' and Grillin' with Kindergarten is set for tonight from 5:30-7:00 RAIN OR SHINE! Our hope is to be outside by the Woodland playground, but if the weather is too wet/rainy, we will move the picnic inside to our classrooms and the hallways between the rooms. If it's nice out, you can park on the west side of the building and walk on over. If it is raining, please park in front of the school and come in through the front doors. You can head down to our rooms for the picnic!
We are so excited to see everyone this evening! Tomorrow (Tuesday) is our kindergarten family social event! Thank you to everyone who has let us know if they are coming or not (it really helps with the big shopping trip!). If you would like to join us, but haven't turned in your 'RSVP', please email your classroom teacher by 3:00 PM today so we can add your family to our count.
We hope to see you at the picnic! *Check back in a few days for photos from the event! -The Kindergarten Teachers Thank you to everyone who was able to bring their children in for our Kindergarten Assessments! It is tremendously helpful to get a little time with all of the children before we collaborate and try to make balanced groupings of students for the best school year possible!
As you saw in the mail last week, Woodland's Open House will be this Wednesday, August 30, from 5:30-7:00PM. Please visit our Open House page for a little more information. Additionally, you probably read that kindergarten teacher assignments will be posted on Woodland's front window at noon on Wednesday (as well as during Open House. We are very excited to share that we have SIX kindergarten teachers this year, which provides us with one more terrific teammate and also helps lower our class sizes! Due to the addition, some of our kindergarten room locations have shifted a bit. Ms. Savitt and Mrs. Frisch can be found in rooms 15 and 17, Miss Bedford and Mrs. Saba are in rooms 11 and 13 (no change) and Mrs. Levy and Mr. Lund are in rooms 10 and 12 (no change). Don't forget to complete the Scholar Information Sheet and bring it with you to Open House! (You may also submit the form online.) Thank you, and we are all looking forward to a wonderful year! Firefighters Mark and Sam and Miss Danya visited us from the Brooklyn Park Fire Department today. We even had a special visit from Captain E3! Ask your kids what we learned-it was lots of fun! We have had a couple wood tick sightings in the kindergarten wing over the past week. Please check your children for ticks, as we spend lots of time outside each day. Thank you!
